The first cervical screening invitation is sent to eligible people between their 24th and 25th birthday. People aged 25 to 49 who tests HPV negative, will now receive invitations every 5 years. People aged 50 to 64 receive invitations every 5 years .
This change is based on strong evidence that HPV primary screening is a safe and effective way to detect early and reduce cervical cancer.
You will be notified when you are next due, and then should make an appointment to see the Practice Nurse. Please tell the Patient Advisor that it is for a cervical smear, as you will be given a longer appointment, to allow plenty of time.
